This strand or "Mala" of Sphatika or Sphatik Beads contains 108 beads plus the Sumeru or the crown bead at the top. Spathik Malas possess a poweful energy of their own and are often used to keep count while reciting mantras i.e. chants or during prayers and meditation to focus the mind. The sphatik beads in this mala are strung on a strong white thread and tied into a tassel with a golden thread binding. Sphatik beads also help relive stress, headaches and overall promotes healing and increases intuition ! When counting mantras, you should not cross over the guru bead. The guru bead is the bead at which the tassel is attached. Start counting your mantras at the first bead next to the guru bead. When you come all the way back around to the guru bead, stop and reflect on whomever you consider to be your guru. Then turn the mala around and start back counting the mantras in the other direction without crossing over the guru bead. When not wearing you mala, store it in a safe place. |
